Ruby has made its French debut with the opening of Ruby Lilou, a 237-room hotel in Marseille with a rooftop terrace, a round-the-clock bar and an adjoining workspace.
Opened on 5 October 2026, the hotel sits between the Vieux Port and La Joliette, close to Le Panier, Marseille’s oldest quarter. The launch also introduces Ruby Workspaces to France through Ruby Yani, which offers coworking areas, private offices and meeting rooms.
“Opening Ruby Lilou marks an important milestone for us as we debut the Ruby brand in France. Marseille is a city with a strong sense of identity, creativity, and authenticity, making it a natural fit for Ruby,” said Michael Struck, Founder and CEO of Ruby Group.
“Together with Ruby Yani Workspaces, we have created a destination that reflects the character of the city while offering guests, workspace members and locals a place to stay, work and connect.”
Mediterranean Design and a Rooftop Terrace
Ruby Lilou’s interiors draw on Marseille’s maritime history and creative scene. Colours inspired by lavender, pale stone and the Mediterranean are paired with graphic patterns and brighter accents.
The 237 rooms fall into four categories: Nest, Cosy, Lovely and Wow. Drawing on the efficient use of space aboard luxury yachts, they feature oversized beds, walk-in rainfall showers and blackout curtains.
Music is part of the hotel’s offering, with in-room Marshall amplifiers and Bluetooth speakers, curated playlists and evening live performances.
A 24-hour bar and café serves coffee, local wines, cocktails and light bites. The 300-square-metre rooftop terrace is open to guests and locals, with views across Marseille towards the Mediterranean.
Ruby Yani Brings Flexible Workspaces to France
Opening alongside the hotel, Ruby Yani provides more than 126 flexible workstations, as well as private offices, meeting rooms, phone booths and communal areas.
Workspace members also have access to the hotel’s rooftop terrace. Announced prices start at €60 per month for flexible memberships, with day passes from €30.
The combined hotel and workspace is intended to serve local businesses, freelancers and visiting guests, with options for occasional use and longer-term working arrangements.
Central Location and Opening Rates
Joliette metro station is a three-minute walk from Ruby Lilou. According to the hotel, Marseille Saint-Charles railway station is five minutes away by metro, while Marseille Provence Airport can be reached in approximately 45 minutes by public transport.
At launch, room rates start at €130 per night for single occupancy, including breakfast. Bookings are also available through the IHG One Rewards app.
Ruby is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, which acquired the brand in 2025. Ruby Group remains an independent company and is responsible for Ruby Lilou’s development, design and operations.
As of the second quarter of 2026, the brand had 42 hotels open or in development worldwide.
