Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites has entered Japan with the opening of two properties in central Kyoto, adding a combined 47 rooms to the city’s accommodation offering.
Part of Minor Hotels, the brand has opened Oaks Vacation Club Kyoto Gojo and Oaks Vacation Club Kyoto Shijo. Both put guests within walking distance of transport links, shopping streets and local restaurants, with room options ranging from standard doubles to family and Japanese suites.
Two Central Kyoto Addresses
Oaks Vacation Club Kyoto Shijo has 27 rooms measuring 30–35 square metres, with categories ranging from Deluxe Double Rooms to Family Suites. Every room includes a kitchenette, giving guests the option to prepare meals during their stay.
The property is a 10-minute walk from Karasuma Station, making it a convenient base for exploring Kyoto by public transport.
Oaks Vacation Club Kyoto Gojo offers 20 rooms, ranging from 20 to 42 square metres. Accommodation options include Standard Double Rooms and a Japanese Suite. According to the opening announcement, the hotel is an eight-minute walk from Shijo Station and one block from Nishiki Market, known for its food stalls and local specialities.
“Kyoto draws travellers who want to explore at their own pace, and the Oaks brand is built for that,” said Dillip Rajakarier, Group Chief Executive Officer of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels.
“Spaces suitable for families, couples and solo travellers and central addresses give guests the freedom to wander a traditional market, try a local specialty or turn down an unfamiliar street. Entering Japan with two properties in Kyoto is a strong start for the Oaks brand.”
Oaks Expands Its Asian Presence
The Kyoto openings bring Oaks into a second Asian country, joining its existing presence in China, and expand Minor Hotels’ footprint in Japan.
Oaks now has more than 60 properties across Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and the Middle East. Its portfolio spans city and resort locations, with accommodation aimed at leisure and business travellers.
