Catania Airport Suspends Flights Until August 14 as Mount Etna Eruption Continues

Catania Airport has extended the suspension of flight operations as Mount Etna’s ongoing eruptive activity continues to impact air traffic in eastern Sicily.

According to the latest operational update issued at 9:30 p.m. on August 12, the closure of Sector B3 has been extended, resulting in the suspension of all arrivals and departures until 2:00 a.m. on August 14.

Passengers scheduled to travel through the airport are advised to check the status of their flights directly with their airline before heading to the airport, as further operational changes remain possible depending on volcanic activity and weather conditions.

Airport authorities said additional updates will be provided as the situation develops.
