Hilton’s Curio Collection Makes Hawaiʻi Debut with Kauaʻi Resort

Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi has opened as the first Curio Collection by Hilton property in Hawaiʻi, bringing 210 rooms, including 23 suites, to a resort overlooking Nāwiliwili Bay near Kalapakī Beach.

Set within the Hōkūala Resort community, the hotel combines Portuguese-Hawaiian dining, access to golf and outdoor recreation, and a cultural programme developed with local practitioners and community organisations. The opening expands Hilton’s portfolio of nearly 30 hotels across the Hawaiian islands.

“The opening of Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi marks an exciting milestone as we introduce Curio Collection by Hilton to Hawaiʻi,” said Danny Hughes, president, Americas, Hilton.

“For more than six decades, Hilton has been proud to welcome guests to the islands, sharing the warmth and hospitality of our team members. Hale Hōkūala builds on that legacy with a resort that reflects the rich culture and spirit of Kauaʻi while offering travelers a truly unique way to experience the destination.”

Island-Inspired Rooms and Open-Air Design

Designed by Hart Howerton and AHL, with interiors by Looney & Associates, the resort features open-air walkways and outdoor gathering spaces among mature monkeypod and banyan trees.

Guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and private lānais, with views across the ocean, Hāʻupu Mountain or the Ocean Course at Hōkūala. Interiors take their colours and textures from the island’s coastline and valleys, while artwork explores local heritage and the relationship between land, ocean and community.

Portuguese-Hawaiian Dining at Figueira

The resort’s signature restaurant, Figueira, overlooks the golf course’s 18th hole and draws on Portugal’s influence on Hawaiian food culture. Hilton describes it as Kauaʻi’s only Portuguese-Hawaiian dining concept.

Led by Executive Chef Hans Lentz and Director of Food & Beverage Romina Migliorini, the culinary team serves dishes including Kauaʻi prawns, Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew and bacalhau no forno. Sweet options include pastel de nata, malasadas and pineapple French toast with Kuleana Rum caramel.

The drinks selection features Hawaiian-grown coffee, local craft beers and Portuguese wines alongside other international labels.

Poolside, The Wiliwili offers a more casual menu of poke bowls, plate lunch specials, shave ice and shareable pūpū, accompanied by cocktails, alcohol-free drinks, juices and smoothies.

Cultural Programme Begins with Kauaʻi Museum Partnership

The resort’s E Ala Ka Pilina programme, meaning “The Awakening of Connection,” brings together cultural practitioners, educators, historians, artisans and community organisations.

Activities will combine experiences at the hotel with excursions and food-focused storytelling. Kauaʻi Museum is the inaugural partner for a series exploring the island’s history and creative traditions within the wider Hawaiian story.

Future programming is planned around agriculture, lei making, traditional aquaculture, land stewardship, hula and Hawaiian storytelling.

Visitors can also explore The Farm at Hōkūala, which showcases native crops, canoe plants and the island’s agricultural traditions.

Golf, Wellness and Event Facilities

The hotel has a pool and fitness centre, while guests can access a full-service spa, wellness activities, tennis and pickleball courts within the wider Hōkūala community.

Outdoor options include preferred tee times at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Ocean Course, more than five miles of trails, complimentary bicycles and beach amenities.

For meetings and celebrations, the resort offers more than 14,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including open-air venues with ocean and mountain views.

Located near Līhuʻe Airport, Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi also participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty programme.
