Minor Hotels has signed an agreement for a 125-room Anantara resort and 125 branded residences on Siniya Island, marking the brand’s planned debut in Umm Al Quwain.
Scheduled to open in 2030, Anantara Siniya Island Resort will form the main hospitality component of the wider Sobha Siniya Island waterfront development. The residential offering will operate under the name Anantara Residences Sobha Siniya Island.
The project is being developed with Sobha Al Siniya FZC, a joint venture between Sobha Realty and Umm Al Quwain Properties, the real estate investment arm of the emirate’s government.
Island Resort Within a Wider Waterfront Development
The resort’s design and guest experience will draw on Siniya Island’s natural surroundings, cultural heritage and coastal setting.
Connected to the mainland by a 1.7-kilometre bridge, the island is approximately 50 minutes from Dubai, according to the announcement. The development adds to Umm Al Quwain’s growing tourism and residential offering, alongside neighbouring emirates Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah.
A groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain.
“Sobha Siniya Island is a compelling new destination, and Anantara will play an integral role in its hospitality offering,” said William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International, the parent company of Minor Hotels.
“This project reflects our continued confidence in the UAE and our commitment to growing alongside highly respected partners in carefully selected locations.”
Partnership Combines Hospitality and Residential Plans
Sobha Al Siniya FZC owns the project, bringing together Sobha Realty’s development expertise and the government’s plans for tourism and economic growth in Umm Al Quwain.
“Sobha Siniya Island was envisioned to celebrate its natural landscape, and Anantara’s approach to hospitality complements the island’s character,” said Francis Alfred, Managing Director of Sobha Siniya Island.
“Our partnership with Minor Hotels brings together a shared commitment to thoughtful design, distinctive experiences and enduring quality.”
The signing expands Minor Hotels’ UAE development portfolio. Further details of the resort’s dining, leisure facilities and accommodation categories have yet to be announced.
