Destinations & Tourism

Lufthansa Group has announced an expansion of its Nordic network for the winter 2026/27 schedule, including a new direct route between Munich and Rovaniemi in Finland.

tarting 4 December 2026, Lufthansa will operate twice-weekly flights between Munich and Rovaniemi, with departures on Fridays and Sundays. The route will be served by Airbus A320neo aircraft.

In addition to the new route, the airline will increase frequencies on several existing services. Flights between Frankfurt and Tromsø, as well as Munich and Tromsø, will each gain two additional weekly rotations.

Further seasonal capacity increases are planned for February and March 2027. Frankfurt–Rovaniemi will see a third weekly flight, Frankfurt–Kuusamo will be upgraded to two weekly services, and Munich–Kittilä will increase to up to three weekly flights.

The Lufthansa Group, including Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Edelweiss and Discover Airlines, continues to expand its presence in the Nordic region, responding to growing demand for winter tourism and Arctic destinations.

Currently, the group operates up to 69 weekly flights to nine airports within the Arctic Circle. Tromsø remains one of the strongest-performing destinations, with up to 22 weekly connections from multiple European hubs.

All new and updated routes are now available for booking through Lufthansa’s official channels.
