KLM will introduce Grand Café KLM across its European network from October, unveiling a new onboard dining concept designed to give passengers more choice and flexibility during their journey.
Under the new service, travelers will be able to pre-order meals before departure or purchase a wider range of snacks, meals and drinks from an onboard menu, reflecting changing customer expectations and aligning KLM with broader trends among European full-service airlines.
More Choice Before and During the Flight
Passengers will be able to pre-order freshly prepared meals such as poke bowls and Caesar salads before departure, while additional options available for onboard purchase will include products such as:
- Salmon and egg wraps
- Yogurt with fruit and seeds
- A variety of snacks and beverages
KLM’s complimentary service will continue to be available for all passengers and includes:
- Coffee
- Tea
- Water
- Orange juice
- Traditional Dutch stroopwafels
Greater Flexibility for Travelers
According to Bas Gerressen, Executive Vice President Inflight Services at KLM, the new concept is designed to offer passengers a more personalized onboard experience.
“We are delighted to welcome our passengers to Grand Café KLM. With this new concept, we are taking the next step in enhancing the European travel experience.”
He added:
“Passengers will benefit from greater choice, more flexibility, and an offering that better reflects a wide range of preferences and needs. Whether they choose to pre-order a meal or spontaneously select a snack or beverage onboard, Grand Café KLM allows passengers to tailor the service to their personal preferences.”
Part of a Broader Passenger Experience Upgrade
The launch follows extensive testing of a new catering model for Economy Class across several European destinations, where KLM evaluated both the menu selection and the operational processes required to support the new service.
The catering upgrade is part of KLM’s wider investment in its European product.
Recent improvements include:
- Introduction of 16 Airbus A321neo aircraft.
- Delivery of 25 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft.
- New cabins featuring modern seats, USB charging ports and larger overhead bins.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi now available on European flights.
With Grand Café KLM, the airline continues to modernize its short-haul product while giving passengers greater control over their onboard dining experience.
