Helsinki Airport Wins ACI Award for Departing Passenger Experience

Helsinki Airport Wins ACI Award for Departing Passenger Experience

Helsinki Airport has received an ASQ Customer Experience Award from Airports Council International (ACI) in the Best Airports – Departures category, based on feedback from passengers travelling through the airport.

The recognition reflects travellers’ assessments of their departure experience, from airport processes and facilities to the service they receive.

“Recognition from our passengers is especially valuable to us. It shows that our long-term efforts to create a smooth and enjoyable travel experience are reflected in our passengers’ everyday journeys,” said Laura Inttilä, Director of Helsinki Airport at Finavia.

“A great passenger experience is built through the collaboration of the entire airport community, so this recognition belongs to everyone working at Helsinki Airport.”

Award Based Entirely on Passenger Feedback

ACI’s Airport Service Quality programme asks passengers to assess their airport experience across more than 50 service quality indicators.

Winners are determined entirely by survey results. There is no judging panel, and ACI does not independently assess airports for these awards.

In 2025, the programme collected nearly 707,000 survey responses from more than 400 airports across 110 countries.

Finavia’s own research at Helsinki Airport points to similar priorities: passengers place particular value on straightforward travel processes and friendly service.

The operator says it uses that feedback to improve the journey from arrival and wayfinding through to departure. While facilities, technology and services all contribute, its research also highlights the importance of personal interactions in shaping passengers’ impressions.

Further Recognition for Helsinki Airport

The departures award follows other international honours for Helsinki Airport this year.

Earlier in 2026, the airport was named Europe’s Best Airport in the 15–25 million passenger category in ACI’s ASQ programme for the seventh time.

In March, it also received the Best Airport in Northern Europe title at the Skytrax World Airport Awards for the tenth time, following passenger voting.
