BWH Hotels accelerates Aiden expansion with more than 20 hotels in development

BWH Hotels is accelerating the global expansion of its Aiden boutique brand, with the portfolio reaching 58 hotels worldwide and more than 20 additional properties currently in development.

The design-focused brand has continued to grow across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America in 2026, with recent openings in Germany, Thailand and the United States. Further launches are planned in the US and Canada later this year, followed by additional expansion in 2027.

Aiden’s growth strategy combines contemporary boutique design with a flexible development model, allowing individual hotels to reflect their locations while operating within the wider BWH Hotels network and participating in the Best Western Rewards loyalty programme.

“Travelers today aren’t looking for another hotel that feels exactly like the last one. They want places with personality, a sense of discovery and a connection to the destination. That’s exactly what Aiden delivers,” said Brad LeBlanc, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at BWH Hotels.

“Every hotel has its own story and creative expression, while still benefiting from the global scale, support and reach of our portfolio. It’s a combination that’s resonating strongly with both guests and developers.”

Aiden adds hotels in Bangkok, Germany and the US

Several new Aiden properties have opened since the beginning of 2026, expanding the brand into a mix of established and emerging urban markets.

Aiden by Best Western Velbert opened in Germany in January, strengthening the brand’s European presence with a design influenced by the surrounding community.

In May, Aiden made its debut in Thailand with the opening of Aiden Surawong Bangkok. The 77-room hotel targets urban travellers and digital nomads, with interiors influenced by Bangkok’s culture and creative scene.

The same month saw the opening of Aiden by Best Western Sacramento Downtown in California. The property incorporates elements inspired by Sacramento’s local arts and creative communities.

Aiden by Best Western Kansas City Downtown followed in June, bringing the brand to the centre of Kansas City with a concept drawing on the city’s creative and culinary identity.

Canada debut planned with Aiden Toronto Airport

The next phase of expansion will include three openings scheduled for autumn 2026.

Aiden Denver will open in Colorado with a design influenced by the city’s RiNo arts district. One of its key features will be Rooftop Social, a rooftop food and beverage venue offering views across the Denver skyline.

In Arizona, Aiden Tempe will introduce a redesigned lobby and rooftop experience alongside Burnt Flour, a new restaurant concept focused on wood-fired pizza and homemade dough. The property is located near Arizona State University.

Aiden Toronto Airport will meanwhile become the brand’s first property in Canada.

The 145-room hotel is being created through the adaptive reuse of a former office building and will include a skylit atrium restaurant and jazz-inspired cocktail lounge. BWH Hotels is positioning the property as a boutique alternative to the traditional airport hotel model, targeting both business and leisure travellers.

Another opening is scheduled for summer 2027 in Pullman, Washington. Located near Washington State University and downtown Pullman, Aiden Pullman will overlook the Palouse hills and target visitors travelling to the region for university events, outdoor recreation, golf, dining and breweries.

More than 20 Aiden hotels in the pipeline

The upcoming openings form part of a development pipeline of more than 20 hotels as BWH Hotels looks to grow Aiden in markets where travellers are increasingly seeking independent-style accommodation and locally influenced design.

The brand now has 58 hotels worldwide, giving BWH Hotels a growing presence in the boutique and lifestyle segment while retaining the distribution and loyalty infrastructure associated with its wider portfolio.

BWH Hotels comprises three hotel companies: WorldHotels, Best Western Hotels & Resorts and SureStay Hotels.

Local art becomes part of Aiden’s brand identity

Alongside its hotel expansion, Aiden is extending its “Art Welcomes You In” programme, which commissions local artists to create permanent installations specifically for individual properties.

The initiative debuted at Aiden by Best Western Sacramento Downtown with a 55-foot mural created by Northern California artist John Osgood.

Rather than using the same artwork or interior concept across the portfolio, the programme pairs local artists with hotel design teams to create installations reflecting the culture, history and identity of each destination.

Aiden Denver will be the next property to participate, with commissioned works inspired by the character and creative scene of the surrounding RiNo neighbourhood.

The initiative is expected to become a more prominent part of Aiden’s design strategy as the brand continues its international expansion.
