Accor to Open Fairmont Rishikesh, Himalayas Luxury Resort in India’s Spiritual Heartland

Accor to Open Fairmont Rishikesh, Himalayas Luxury Resort in India’s Spiritual Heartland

Accor has announced the signing of Fairmont Rishikesh, Himalayas, a new luxury resort that will bring the iconic Fairmont brand to one of India’s most celebrated wellness destinations.

Scheduled to open in 2031, the resort will be located in the Shivpuri Range of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, surrounded by the Himalayan foothills and the River Ganges. The project represents another milestone in Accor’s continued expansion of its luxury portfolio across India.

Luxury Resort Planned for the Himalayas

The resort will occupy approximately 16 acres and feature 220 guestrooms, four restaurants, a 3,000-square-metre event and meeting venue, a luxury spa, fitness centre, swimming pool, children’s club and a range of curated wellness and leisure experiences.

Designed to reflect the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region, Fairmont Rishikesh aims to become a destination for luxury holidays, wellness retreats, weddings, corporate events and spiritual escapes.

Rishikesh has become one of India’s fastest-growing luxury tourism destinations thanks to its reputation for yoga, meditation and holistic wellbeing, while its accessibility from Delhi has also increased demand for premium leisure travel and MICE events.

Fairmont Continues Expansion Across India

The new resort further strengthens Fairmont Hotels & Resorts’ growing footprint in India.

The luxury brand already operates Fairmont Jaipur, Fairmont Mumbai and Fairmont Udaipur, with additional projects planned in Shimla Fagu, Goa and Agra.

Accor said the Rishikesh development reflects increasing demand for high-end hospitality experiences in destinations that combine nature, wellness and authentic local culture.

Commenting on the signing, Ranju Alex, CEO, Accor South Asia, said the project represents another important step in the company’s luxury growth strategy.

“Another significant turning point in the strategic growth of the Fairmont brand in India is the signing of Fairmont Rishikesh, Himalayas. One of the most alluring luxury travel locations in the nation is Rishikesh, where spirituality, wellness, and immersive travel come together. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to providing outstanding hospitality to locations that provide genuine and significant experiences while bolstering our premium portfolio throughout the area.”

Partnership with Javi Group

The project is being developed in partnership with Javi Group, which is expanding into the hospitality sector through a dedicated hotel business.

Vibhor Jain, Director of Javi Home Pvt. Ltd., said the company believes Fairmont is ideally suited to the destination.

“We are thrilled to partner with Accor to introduce the Fairmont brand to Rishikesh. The location has enormous long-term potential, and we think Fairmont’s tradition of providing opulent hospitality is a wonderful fit with the area’s natural beauty, spiritual past, and increasing attractiveness to discerning tourists. Together, we hope to establish a historic location that would raise the bar for opulent hospitality in Uttarakhand.”

Accor currently operates 75 hotels across India and South Asia under brands including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, ibis and ibis Styles, with further expansion planned across the region.
