Jet2holidays Reaches 1,500 Sustainable Hotels Milestone
Jet2holidays has announced that 1,500 hotels in its portfolio are now classified as “Certified Sustainable Hotels,” marking a major milestone in the company’s sustainability strategy.
The certification means these hotels meet recognized sustainability standards listed by ABTA’s approved hotel certification schemes, covering practices such as reducing energy and water consumption, minimizing waste, sourcing products locally and supporting local communities.
The hotel sustainability labeling initiative was first launched in 2023, when around 800 hotels were included in the program. Since then, Jet2holidays has significantly expanded the collection, giving customers a wider choice of environmentally responsible accommodation across its destinations.
The company says the program allows both customers and travel agents to easily identify hotels that meet certified sustainability standards when booking holidays. The initiative forms part of the “In Resort” pillar of Jet2’s broader sustainability strategy.
Jet2holidays also announced the launch of a new sustainable hotel toolkit designed to help partner hotels achieve certification. The toolkit, introduced to hotel partners at the ITB Berlin travel trade show, explains the certification process and highlights the benefits of sustainable practices through real-world case studies.
The toolkit was developed in partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education, which operates the Green Key environmental certification criteria, a leading global standard for sustainable tourism operations.
Jet2holidays says the initiative will continue to expand, with the company targeting more than 3,000 certified sustainable hotels by 2035, reflecting growing demand from travelers seeking more responsible holiday options
