Hyatt Regency Opens Inside London Olympia’s £1.3bn Transformation

Hyatt has opened its fifth Regency hotel in London, with Hyatt Regency London Olympia taking its place inside the £1.3 billion redevelopment of the iconic Olympia venue in West Kensington.

The 204-room hotel is housed in Emberton House, originally built in 1937 as one of Europe’s largest multi-storey car parks, now reimagined by Heatherwick Studio and SPPARC into a contemporary hotel. London studio twenty2degrees handled the interior design, drawing on Art Deco influences and Olympia’s rich history — from its Victorian-era circus roots to landmark concerts by Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and The Chemical Brothers. Artwork throughout the hotel includes corridor reinterpretations of Eadweard Muybridge’s chronophotography and framed tributes to the world’s first computer exhibition, which was held at Olympia.

Rooms span 14 categories and are laid out in a split “Work and Play” and “Groom and Prep” configuration, with keyless entry and energy-efficient systems. Meeting space covers over 900 square feet across three rooms, with direct walking access to Olympia’s wider convention centre capable of hosting up to 20,000 attendees.

Dining options include The 1937 Lounge & Bar for coffee and cocktails, The Market for grab-and-go, and Idalia — an all-day restaurant in the adjacent Grade II listed Pillar Hall helmed by chefs Samantha Williams and Lorena Tommasi, with a menu drawing on modern British cooking with European and Asian influences.

The hotel sits directly opposite Kensington Olympia station, offering quick connections to central London and Heathrow, with Holland Park, Kensington Palace, and the Natural History Museum all nearby.
