Jet2 Confirms Free 10kg Cabin Bag Allowance Will Remain Ahead of New EU Rules

Jet2 has confirmed that its customers will continue to receive a free 10kg cabin baggage allowance despite upcoming European Union rules aimed at making airline baggage policies easier to compare.

The new measures, introduced by the European Commission and expected to take effect in 2027, are intended to improve transparency by helping passengers better understand what is included in the price of a flight when booking.

No Changes for Jet2 Customers

According to Jet2, the new regulations will not affect its existing baggage policy.

Passengers will continue to receive a free 10kg cabin bag, along with a personal item, as part of their standard fare. The airline says its approach already aligns with the objective of giving travellers clear information about what is included in the ticket price.

By contrast, many airlines currently charge additional fees for larger cabin bags, making it more difficult for passengers to compare the true cost of fares.

Simpler Pricing Ahead of EU Changes

The European Commission’s new rules are designed to create greater consistency across the airline industry by improving the way baggage allowances are presented during the booking process.

Jet2 says its customers already benefit from transparent pricing without hidden extras or unexpected baggage charges.

The airline also revealed that around 80% of its customers cite the inclusion of a free 10kg hand luggage allowance as one of the main reasons they choose to fly with the carrier.

Focus on Customer Satisfaction

Jet2 says its baggage policy reflects its wider strategy of offering straightforward products with clearly defined inclusions.

The announcement follows another recent milestone for the company after it was named the highest-rated airline and tour operator in the July 2026 UK Customer Satisfaction Index (UKCSI).

The airline believes the combination of transparent pricing, inclusive baggage allowances and customer service continues to drive strong demand among UK holidaymakers.
