After Nine Months of Renovations, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort Reopens

News

After nine months of intensive renovations, Anantara Veli Maldives resort reopened to adult-only guests on the 1st December 2022.

The renovations included a revamped accommodation, including new Beach Pool Villas and a new Villa Host Service for all guests. There were also new restaurants and a hammam that have been added to the wellness-focused Spa.

Anantara Veli maldives resort is located on a beautiful natural island in South Male Atoll. It is surrounded by a tranquil lagoon. Yuji Yamazaki, a New York-based designer, created a renovation plan that was rooted in wellness and nature. Yamazaki created a unique experience that allows guests to be in touch with nature while still allowing them to feel secluded. The entire stay was private, with self-sufficient villas and spa designs as well as restaurants that reflect modern no-walls tropical living.

The resort's new Beach Pool Villas are situated directly on white sands. They have sliding glass doors that lead to a private pool, surrounded by a cushioned bed, open-air living space and dining area, as well as an island-style bedroom with tropical foliage. Each of the six new Beach Pool Villas is the most exclusive villa category at Anantara Veli. It offers 148m2 of luxury space with direct beach access and privacy.

The resort's overwater villas are a beautiful example of serene functionality. Both those with and without pools have been fully renovated in traditional-meets-contemporary tropical style, using a natural palette of wood and stone, cool fabrics and rattan finishes and the latest in high-tech comforts. Many of these private cocoons feature a separate tub and outdoor rain showers. Six brand new Deluxe Overwater Villas have been added to the Anantara Veli overwater villa collection. They feature a larger private pool, deck, and an overwater hammock that allows you to look at the shimmering waters below by day and the stars at night.

Anantara Veli's relaunch also includes a new wellness concept that allows guests to book a personalized Wellness Villa experience. The villa is enhanced with sound, light and scent therapy, which changes the atmosphere from day to night. It also includes Ayurvedic spa amenities and an earthing mat for mediation. There's also a minibar that offers herbal teas, healthy shakes, and wholefood snacks. A wellness consultation is included upon arrival. There are also daily yoga and personal training sessions. 20% off Balance Wellness by Anantara treatments.

Balance Wellness by Anantara offers multi-day wellness retreats, as well as consultations with the resident nutritionist, naturopath, personal trainer, yoga, and lifestyle coach. It is a haven of healing in the tropical heartland of the resort. The spa is surrounded by nature and offers a variety of wellness options, including Ayurvedic, holistic, and IV therapies. The new Moroccan hammam uses authentic Moroccan products. It also offers body and facial treatments that use exclusive skincare brand 111Skin, Harley Street, London. Five treatment suites are offered by Balance Wellness by Anantara, including a nail salon and steam room, Shirodhara treatment beds, sauna, indoor and outside showers, as well as a relaxing garden with cold and hot plunge pools.

Guests can enjoy top-quality cuisines from all over the world at a variety of dining venues. The resort's Wine Guru will also help them learn about new and old wines. Cumin serves dishes from Sri Lanka and India, and Origami, a stylishly renovated Japanese restaurant, offers modern Japanese cuisine including robatayaki and teppanyaki. Dhoni Bar, poolside, specializes in Mediterranean tapas. They offer coffee and smoothies during the day, and champagne and signature cocktails at night.

Baan Huraa is perched above the water, at the edge of a lagoon or outer reef. Here you will find coconut curries from Thailand's south and spicy northern dishes. Sea.Fire.Salt offers grilled meats, fresh seafood, and fish from the local waters on its sister island Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort. Aqua serves healthy Italian food. The breakfast menu offers a wide range of wellness options and is served al-fresco with views over the ocean at Cumin. Anantara's Dining by Design experience, which includes a private chef, butler, and sommelier, allows guests to dine outside of the restaurants.

There are many activities available on both the water and land side by side for those who seek serenity or connection. Aquafanatics is the resort's resident watersports company. Guests can also enjoy the thrills and excitement of diving with Tropicsurf resident experts. Guests can also join Anantara in their habitat preservation efforts by adopting corals as part of the sustainability programme.

A fully-equipped fitness center is available on land. There's also an outdoor gym, a tennis court, and designated spaces for badminton and table tennis. You can book a personal trainer for a fitness session or join the boxing ring. For those who prefer quieter pursuits, they can book a Spice Spoons cooking course, practice yoga or meditate at the pavilion overlooking the ocean, or relax by the infinity-edge pool.

Anantara Veli Maldives resort is located 21 km south of Velana International Airport. It can be reached by speedboat in 30 minutes and is available 24 hours a days.
