Aer Lingus launches Starlink Wi-Fi with speeds up to 500 Mbps
Aer Lingus has launched ultra-fast in-flight connectivity powered by Starlink, offering passengers free high-speed Wi-Fi across all cabins.
The service debuted on March 29, 2026, on flight EI105 from Dublin to New York JFK, marking the first time customers experienced the new technology on board.
The airline’s first Starlink-equipped aircraft, an Airbus A330, has undergone extensive testing and will lead a phased rollout across the fleet. Long-haul aircraft will be prioritised, with full implementation expected by early 2027.
Starlink uses a network of low-Earth orbit satellites to deliver fast, low-latency internet, enabling passengers to stream, work, browse and game during flights. Aer Lingus says speeds can exceed 500 Mbps, significantly improving onboard connectivity.
The rollout will begin with transatlantic routes before expanding to European services later in the process.
The initiative is part of Aer Lingus’ broader investment in digital innovation, aimed at enhancing customer experience both on the ground and in the air.
Airline executives described the technology as a “gamechanger,” giving passengers greater flexibility in how they use their time during flights, while also improving operational efficiency for crew.
The introduction of Starlink comes as Aer Lingus celebrates its 90th anniversary, alongside other upgrades to its digital services and airport experience.
