American Airlines and STARLUX Launch Codeshare for Taipei Flights

American Airlines and STARLUX Launch Codeshare for Taipei Flights

American Airlines and STARLUX Airlines have launched a codeshare partnership covering flights between the western United States and Taipei, with selected services available to book for travel from 30 September 2026.

The agreement allows passengers to purchase STARLUX-operated flights through American’s website and mobile app. AAdvantage members booking eligible American-coded services can also earn miles and Loyalty Points.

Four U.S. Gateways Included at Launch

American will place its flight code on STARLUX services to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport from:

  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Ontario International Airport (ONT)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

The partners also plan to include STARLUX flights between Phoenix Sky Harbor and Taipei, subject to regulatory approval.

The codeshare expands the Taipei itineraries American can sell, with STARLUX operating the trans-Pacific flights.

AAdvantage Earning Available, Redemption Still to Come

AAdvantage members can earn miles and Loyalty Points when booking an American codeshare flight operated by STARLUX.

The airlines said they would explore further cooperation, including mileage redemption and additional travel benefits. Those features have not been announced as part of the initial launch.

Three Cabin Options Available Through American

Passengers can book STARLUX Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class through American’s sales channels.

STARLUX’s Business Class offering includes lie-flat seats with privacy doors. Premium Economy seats feature leg rests and retractable footrests.

Anmol Bhargava, American’s Senior Vice President of Alliances, said the partnership would create more travel options for passengers visiting Taipei for business, leisure or to see friends and family.

STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai said American’s North American network complemented the Taiwanese carrier’s presence across Asia.

Partnership Supports Trans-Pacific Travel

The airlines see demand from both tourism and business travel, including connections linked to the semiconductor industry.

For passengers, the immediate change is the ability to book selected STARLUX flights under an American flight number and earn AAdvantage rewards on eligible bookings. Further loyalty benefits and the proposed Phoenix codeshare remain separate next steps.
