Stansted Airport Fund Awards Nearly £31,000 to Local Projects

The Stansted Airport Community Fund has awarded nearly £31,000 to 11 community projects across Uttlesford, East Herts, Epping Forest, and Harlow, supporting initiatives ranging from village improvements to youth activities and wellbeing programmes.

Among the largest grants, The Gibberd Garden in Harlow received £5,000 toward a new tractor for garden maintenance, while Silver Leys Scout Group in East Herts was awarded £4,800 for solar panels, lighting, soundproofing, and electrical work. ASL Aspire Support Learn CIC received £4,500 for accessible fitness and healthy living equipment in Epping Forest, and Birchwood High School secured £3,330 for a new bistro trailer for school and community use.

Smaller grants supported a community orchard refurbishment in Stebbing (£3,000), a projector and sound equipment for 1st Sawbridgeworth Scouts (£3,357), replacement fire doors for Henham Village Hall (£1,750), chairs for Thaxted Baptist Church (£1,914), equipment for Female Founders Community CIC’s gift shop (£1,500), therapy equipment for Wild Fields Therapy CIC (£1,147), and a blue plaque installation for Bishops Stortford History Society (£480).

“These grants will make a real difference to communities around the airport, supporting projects that bring people together, improve local facilities and promote wellbeing,” said Maggie Sutton, Chair of the Fund.

The Stansted Airport Community Fund supports projects within a ten-mile radius of the airport that deliver lasting benefits to local residents.
