Wizz Air is expanding its operations in Spain with a new base at Valencia Airport, where two aircraft will be stationed from November 2, 2026.
The airline will use the new base to launch seven routes from Valencia, including five domestic connections and international flights to Brașov and Naples.
Wizz Air has also confirmed plans to establish a base in Madrid as part of a broader Spanish expansion that includes new routes from several airports and increased frequencies on existing services.
More than 80 locally based pilots and cabin crew are expected to be recruited to support the Valencia operation.
Wizz Air to Base Two Aircraft in Valencia
The Valencia base will begin operations on November 2, providing Wizz Air with locally based aircraft and crews for the first time at the airport.
The airline says the move will improve operational efficiency while providing the infrastructure needed to continue expanding its network in the region.
“This moment represents a significant step forward for Wizz Air in Spain, as we continue to expand our footprint in one of Europe’s most dynamic aviation markets,” said Silvia Mosquera, Commercial Officer at Wizz Air.
“With the opening of our new base at Valencia Airport, we are strengthening our ability to serve the region with greater efficiency, more destinations, and enhanced connectivity.”
Mosquera described Valencia’s combination of tourism demand, economic activity and growing international profile as important factors behind the decision to invest in the city.
Seven New Wizz Air Routes from Valencia
The expansion will bring seven new routes to Valencia Airport between November and December.
Flights to Santiago de Compostela will operate four times weekly from November 2, with fares starting at €19.99.
Valencia-Asturias will operate five times per week from the same date, also starting at €19.99.
One of the most notable international additions is Valencia-Brașov, which will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from November 2, with fares starting at €29.99.
Flights to Santander will follow on November 3, operating twice weekly from €19.99.
Three more routes will begin on December 14. Palma de Mallorca and Bilbao will both receive daily flights, with fares starting at €14.99 and €19.99 respectively, while daily Valencia-Naples flights will start at €24.99.
Madrid Base Also Planned
Wizz Air has also confirmed that Madrid will become another base for the airline as it increases its presence in Spain.
Four new Madrid routes have been announced for November.
Madrid-Palma de Mallorca and Madrid-Santiago de Compostela will begin on November 3. Palma will operate twice daily with fares from €14.99, while Santiago will operate three times weekly at the same starting fare.
Daily flights between Madrid and Pisa will also begin on November 3, with fares from €24.99.
Madrid-Asturias will launch the following day, operating four times per week with fares starting at €19.99.
The airline is also significantly increasing frequencies on three existing international routes from the Spanish capital.
Madrid-London Luton and Madrid-Milan Malpensa will both increase from seven to 14 weekly flights from November 3.
Madrid-Rome Fiumicino will increase from 14 to 21 weekly services, giving passengers up to three flights per day.
Wizz Air Adds More Routes Across Spain
The expansion extends beyond Madrid and Valencia, with Wizz Air introducing several additional routes from regional Spanish airports.
Málaga-London Luton will begin on October 25 with four weekly flights, while Almería will receive a new three-times-weekly service to Bucharest from October 26.
Granada and Asturias will both gain flights to London Luton from October 27.
From November 2, Wizz Air will connect Bilbao with Santiago de Compostela four times per week.
Daily Bilbao-Málaga flights will begin on December 14, followed by a new Bilbao-Wroclaw connection from December 19.
The Wroclaw route will operate three times weekly during the summer schedule and twice weekly during winter.
More Than 80 New Jobs in Valencia
Wizz Air plans to recruit more than 80 pilots and cabin crew members who will be based locally in Valencia.
The airline says the expansion should also have a wider economic impact through increased activity in tourism, hospitality, airport services and other businesses connected to aviation.
The two aircraft assigned to Valencia will come from Wizz Air’s newer-generation fleet, supporting the carrier’s strategy of operating more fuel-efficient aircraft while expanding capacity.
Wizz Air Expands Spanish Network Alongside WIZZ Holidays
The airline is also supporting its network expansion with WIZZ Holidays, its recently launched package holiday platform.
The service allows customers to combine Wizz Air flights with accommodation, airport transfers and multi-city itineraries within a single booking.
With new bases in Valencia and Madrid, additional domestic routes and increased frequencies to major European cities, Wizz Air is significantly expanding its exposure to the Spanish market heading into the 2026-2027 winter season.
The new services will also strengthen connections between Spain and Central and Eastern Europe, including the new Valencia-Brașov and Almería-Bucharest routes.
