Summer festival boosts visitor numbers in Yercaud

The annual summer festival in Yercaud revives local tourism, considerably affected by the Covid-19 pandemic

The Hill station in Salem District, Tamil Nadu, India welcomed the 45th Yercaud Summer Festival featuring various events and programmes, such as the spectacular Flower Show gathering huge crowds.

The events, hosted by the Anna Park, followed a period of two years of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Kalpanna Shivaraj, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu Tour Travel and Hospitality Association, The Yercaud Summer Festival attracted visitors fully booking the hotels in the area during the past weekend.

Moreover, the official figures from the Horticulture Department show a number exceeding 20.000 visitors on Saturday, more than expected and the highest in the last couple of years.

The festival in Yercaud is set to close its gates on June 1st.
