Renfe will revise the timetables of several AVE high-speed services connecting Barcelona, Málaga and Granada from September 14, 2026, as part of an initiative to better align its schedule with passenger travel patterns and increase seat availability during periods of higher demand.
The timetable adjustment will reorganize departure times for selected Barcelona–Málaga and Barcelona–Granada services while maintaining the current number of daily connections and overall seat capacity between the cities.
Updated schedules
The following timetable changes will take effect:
- The Barcelona–Granada AVE, currently departing Barcelona Sants at 08:30 and arriving in Granada at 14:48, will instead depart at 15:41 and arrive at 23:13.
- The Granada–Barcelona AVE, currently departing Granada at 15:35 and arriving in Barcelona Sants at 22:59, will operate with a new departure time of 07:55, arriving in Barcelona at 14:54.
- The Barcelona–Málaga AVE, currently departing Barcelona Sants at 15:41 and arriving in Málaga María Zambrano at 22:47, will instead depart at 08:30 and arrive at 15:11.
- The Málaga–Barcelona AVE, currently departing Málaga María Zambrano at 08:22 and arriving in Barcelona Sants at 14:54, will move to an afternoon departure at 15:50, reaching Barcelona at 23:00.

Renfe recommends that passengers check the updated timetables through its official information channels before travelling.
Customers who have already purchased tickets for any of the affected services will be contacted via email, SMS, customer service channels and digital platforms. They will be offered the option to change their journey, select an alternative service, or cancel their ticket free of charge.
