Emergency Drills at Three Finnish Airports to Leave Flights Unaffected

Emergency response exercises will take place at Joensuu, Kittilä and Oulu airports from 7 to 9 October 2026, with no impact on flights or passengers, according to airport operator Finavia.

The separate drills will involve local authorities and airport teams, testing cooperation and operational procedures for accidents and other emergencies.

Exercise Dates and Locations

The exercises are scheduled for:

  • Joensuu Airport: 7 October 2026.
  • Kittilä Airport: 8 October 2026.
  • Oulu Airport: 9 October 2026.

Passengers and people near the airports may notice emergency vehicles and personnel in and around airport grounds during the drills.

Finavia said flight operations and passenger journeys will continue unaffected.
