American Airlines is reporting growing demand for premium business travel as corporate customers return to the skies following the summer holiday season.
According to the airline, corporate travel bookings typically increase by around 35% between August and September, with demand reaching its highest level during the final week of September.
American also reported that premium corporate travel bookings increased by nearly 15% year over year during the 12-month period ending in May 2026, reflecting continued demand for higher-end products among business travelers.
“Fall is an important time for our corporate customers as companies reconnect with clients, bring teams together and focus on finishing the year strong,” said Lucas Martin, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at American Airlines.
“We continue to see momentum from our corporate customers, and we’re focused on delivering more of what businesses and their travelers value: a strong global network, a premium travel experience, loyalty that rewards both the company and traveler and dedicated support that makes it easy to do business with American.”
Business Travel Demand Rises in September
American’s data shows that the average business trip lasts nearly five days, although more than one in five corporate trips are completed within a single day.
The airline says this mix of short and longer journeys is increasing demand for flexible schedules, reliable connectivity and services that allow passengers to remain productive while traveling.
American has also reported improving sentiment among some of its largest corporate customers, which the airline attributes to investments in its network, premium products, customer experience and corporate sales support.
For small and midsized companies, the AAdvantage Business program allows businesses to earn one mile for every eligible dollar spent while travelers can earn additional Loyalty Points toward status.
Contracted corporate customers receive benefits including Group 4 boarding, preferred seat access and priority assistance during disruptions, while American has also introduced additional account management and agency tools.
American Expands Premium Business Travel Offering
American is continuing to invest in premium cabins as corporate demand grows.
The airline operates several high-frequency routes connecting major business markets, including up to five daily flights between New York JFK and London Heathrow, more than 10 daily flights between New York JFK and Los Angeles, and up to two daily services between Los Angeles and London Heathrow.
American is also expanding complimentary inflight Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T across most of its fleet, alongside investments in airport lounges, mobile tools and newer aircraft.
The carrier recently introduced premium-configured Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321XLR aircraft and unveiled its first upgraded Boeing 777-300ER.
The retrofitted 777-300ER features 70 Flagship Suite seats, each offering a privacy door, additional personal storage and a chaise lounge seating option.
Premium passengers can also access services including priority check-in, security, boarding and baggage handling, along with eligible access to American’s Flagship lounges.
“Whether it’s a same-day trip to close a deal or a weeklong international journey to connect with clients and colleagues, American gives business travelers the network, schedule and premium experience they need to succeed,” Martin added.

American serves more than 200 million passengers annually and employs approximately 130,000 people.
