Frontier Airlines is making major changes to its Frontier Miles loyalty programme, lowering the threshold for its highest elite tier while introducing new earning rates and additional benefits for 2027.
The airline has reduced the requirement for Elite Diamond Status from 100,000 to 75,000 Elite Status Points with immediate effect.
Frontier Miles members will also earn miles and status points at new rates for tickets purchased from September 1, 2026, while holders of the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard will receive higher earning rates when purchasing Economy, Premium or Business bundles.
Additional elite benefits will follow from January 1, 2027, including access to complimentary First Class and UpFront Plus upgrades from the entry-level Elite Silver tier.
“With new earning opportunities, enhanced elite benefits, and a faster path to Elite Diamond, there has never been a better time to be a member of Frontier Miles and to have a Frontier Airlines World Mastercard,” said James Fenner, Vice President of Revenue and Loyalty at Frontier Airlines.
“In addition to the introduction of First Class seating and Starlink, the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky, these enhancements to Frontier Miles demonstrate Frontier’s commitment to rewarding our loyal customers and cardmembers.”
Frontier Lowers Elite Diamond Requirement to 75,000 Points
The most immediate change is a 25% reduction in the number of points needed to reach Frontier’s highest loyalty tier.
Elite Diamond Status now requires 75,000 Elite Status Points instead of 100,000.
Qualification thresholds for the other three Frontier Miles elite tiers remain unchanged for the 2027 elite year:
- Elite Silver: 15,000 points
- Elite Gold: 25,000 points
- Elite Platinum: 50,000 points
- Elite Diamond: 75,000 points
Elite Diamond members receive Frontier’s broadest range of loyalty benefits, including unlimited companion travel, preboarding and, from 2027, two checked bags of up to 50 pounds for each traveller on the same booking.
Frontier Miles Introduces New Earning Rates
For tickets purchased from September 1, Frontier Miles members will earn at higher rates when choosing an Economy, Premium or Business bundle.
Standard Frontier Miles members will earn 6x miles and Elite Status Points per dollar spent on qualifying bundled bookings. This increases according to elite level, reaching 16x for Elite Diamond members.
Frontier Airlines World Mastercard cardholders receive higher rates, starting at 12x for members without elite status and reaching 22x for Elite Diamond cardholders.
Basic fares will continue to earn at substantially lower rates. Standard members receive 1x on Basic fares, increasing to 11x for Elite Diamond members. Eligible Frontier cardholders can earn between 4x and 14x depending on their status.
Select cardholders using a Frontier Airlines World Mastercard for eligible Frontier purchases can also earn an additional 5x miles and 1x Elite Status Point per dollar spent, although accrual varies depending on card type.
First Class Upgrades Added Across Elite Tiers
Frontier is also expanding upgrade benefits as it prepares to introduce First Class seating.
Beginning January 1, 2027, even Elite Silver members will become eligible for complimentary upgrades to UpFront Plus or First Class when travelling with an Economy or Premium bundle, subject to availability.
The timing of upgrade eligibility improves with status:
- Elite Silver: four hours before departure
- Elite Gold: eight hours before departure
- Elite Platinum: 18 hours before departure
- Elite Diamond: 24 hours before departure
Silver members purchasing an Economy bundle will also receive complimentary upgrades to preferred seating when available.
Gold members gain access to premium seating upgrades, while Platinum members can receive premium seating upgrades for everyone travelling on the same booking.
Checked Bag and Companion Benefits Expanded
Frontier is strengthening several benefits for its higher elite tiers.
Elite Platinum members will receive one complimentary checked bag of up to 50 pounds for every traveller on their booking, in addition to a free carry-on bag for each passenger.
The pet-in-cabin fee is also waived for Platinum members.
Platinum members will receive two companion travel certificates under the updated 2027 programme.
Elite Diamond members will receive two checked bags of up to 50 pounds for each traveller on the reservation, alongside unlimited companion travel and preboarding.
Other benefits available across the programme include priority customer care, family pooling and priority boarding, depending on status level.
Milestone Rewards Coming in 2027
Frontier will introduce another loyalty feature during the 2027 programme year called Milestone Rewards.
The programme will allow elite members at each tier to select additional perks and rewards on top of their standard status benefits.
Frontier has not yet disclosed the individual Milestone Rewards available, with further details expected closer to 2027.
The loyalty changes come as Frontier invests in a broader upgrade of its passenger experience, including the planned introduction of First Class seating and Starlink Wi-Fi.
