SAS will return to India after a 17-year absence with the launch of a new year-round nonstop service between Copenhagen and Mumbai on October 1, 2026.
The Scandinavian carrier will operate five flights per week in each direction using an Airbus A330 with 266 seats, reconnecting its Copenhagen hub with India’s financial capital.
Tickets for the new route are now on sale across SAS booking channels, with all operational preparations for the launch completed.
SAS Returns to India After 17 Years
The Copenhagen-Mumbai route represents a significant expansion of SAS’ long-haul network and marks the airline’s return to the Indian market for the first time in 17 years.
Mumbai will provide SAS with direct access to one of India’s largest business and financial centres, with the airline targeting a combination of corporate, leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic.

Copenhagen-Mumbai Flights to Operate Five Times Weekly
SAS will operate the new route throughout the year with five weekly frequencies.
The Copenhagen departure will begin on October 1, while the first service from Mumbai is scheduled for October 3.
SAS Copenhagen to Mumbai Schedule
Flight SK969 will depart Copenhagen Airport at 16:10 and arrive at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 04:30 the following morning.

Flight SK970 will depart Mumbai at 06:30 and arrive in Copenhagen at 12:15 the same day.

Airbus A330 to Serve New India Route
SAS will deploy an Airbus A330 configured with 266 seats on the Copenhagen-Mumbai service.
The aircraft is part of the airline’s long-haul fleet and will allow SAS to offer a nonstop alternative between Scandinavia and India’s west coast.
The year-round operation is also intended to support business links and tourism between India and Northern Europe.
Copenhagen Connections to Europe and North America
Beyond point-to-point traffic between Denmark and India, SAS is positioning Copenhagen as a connecting hub for passengers travelling between Mumbai and other destinations in its network.
Passengers arriving from India will have access to onward connections across Scandinavia and Europe.
The airline is also highlighting connections through Copenhagen to North American destinations including New York, Boston and Toronto.
The schedule therefore gives SAS an opportunity to capture connecting traffic between India and markets across Northern Europe and the North Atlantic.
SAS Expands Long-Haul Network From Copenhagen
The Mumbai launch comes as SAS continues to strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s role as the main international hub within its network.
For Copenhagen Airport, the route restores a nonstop connection with one of India’s most important cities and adds another major Asian market to its long-haul network.
For SAS, the launch carries additional significance as the airline celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2026, with the return to India extending its international network into a market it has not served for nearly two decades.
The first Copenhagen-Mumbai flight will depart on October 1, 2026, with the route operating five times weekly throughout the year.
