Dublin Airport welcomed 3,839,635 passengers in July 2026, an increase of 2.3% compared with the same month last year, making it the busiest month in the airport’s history.
The result also marked the 16th consecutive month of passenger growth, reflecting sustained demand for travel during the peak summer holiday season.
Nearly 22 Million Passengers in First Seven Months
Between January and July, just under 22 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport, representing a 5.2% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
Passenger demand remained consistently strong throughout July, with more than 100,000 travellers passing through the airport every day. The busiest day was Sunday, 12 July, when 133,472 passengers used the airport.
Strong Operational Performance During Peak Travel
Despite record passenger numbers, Dublin Airport continued to deliver strong operational performance.
During July:
- 88.7% of departing passengers cleared security in 15 minutes or less.
- 92.7% passed through security within 20 minutes.
- Average baggage delivery time was 28 minutes.
- Aircraft achieved an 89% load factor.
- First-wave departure punctuality reached 88.9%, while overall on-time departures stood at 66.9%.
Summer Holidays and Major Events Drive Demand
July traffic was boosted by the school summer holidays, with large numbers of Irish families travelling abroad while international visitors arrived in Ireland for summer vacations.
The closing stages of the FIFA World Cup also increased demand, as passengers from across the UK and Europe connected through Dublin Airport’s US Preclearance facilities and extensive transatlantic network.
The airport also supported Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, welcoming international delegations from across Europe throughout the month.
Commenting on the results, Dublin Airport Managing Director Gary McLean said:
“The summer holiday season is now in full swing, with almost four million passengers travelling through Dublin Airport last month as families made the most of the school holidays and visitors from around the world came to experience our unique Irish hospitality.”
He added:
“On average, around 123,000 passengers walked through our doors every day of July. That’s the equivalent of one and a half times the capacity of Croke Park on All-Ireland final day passing through the airport in just one day, every day last month.”
McLean also praised airport staff for maintaining high service levels despite record demand.
“Despite this, we continued to deliver an excellent operational performance, with 93% of departing passengers passing through security in under 20 minutes. This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our Dublin Airport teams, with thousands of people working 24/7 across the airport campus to deliver a smooth, safe and welcoming experience.”
London’s Heathrow Remains Top Route
The airport’s five busiest destinations during July were:
- London Heathrow
- Amsterdam
- Manchester
- Malaga
- London Gatwick
With passenger demand expected to remain strong throughout August, Dublin Airport is preparing for another busy month as the summer travel season continues.
