Royal Caribbean Partners with Roald Dahl Charity for European Ship Debut

Royal Caribbean has announced a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity ahead of the European debut of Legend of the Seas in July 2026, linking the ship’s onboard production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” with fundraising for specialist pediatric nurses across the UK.

The partnership aims to raise funds to support the charity’s network of more than 250 Roald Dahl Nurses, who provide specialist care and practical support to over 50,000 seriously ill children and their families across NHS Trusts in the UK. Onboard donation opportunities and fundraising moments will run throughout Legend’s inaugural European season.

To mark the launch, Royal Caribbean will host a group of Roald Dahl Nurses on a special four-night preview sailing aboard Legend ahead of the ship’s official debut on July 4, giving the nurses a complimentary break from their demanding roles.

“With Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ headlining entertainment on Legend of the Seas, partnering with the charity felt like a natural fit,” said Gerard Nolan, VP and MD for EMEA at Royal Caribbean. “Roald Dahl Nurses provide extraordinary care to families every day, and we’re proud to champion their work.”

Louise Griew, Chief Executive of the charity, said the partnership will help raise vital funds to support more families while spotlighting the dedication of its nursing community.

Legend of the Seas will sail its inaugural European summer season before relocating to Fort Lauderdale in November 2026 for Western and Southern Caribbean itineraries, including calls at Perfect Day CocoCay in The Bahamas.
