Lufthansa Unveils BOSS-Designed Uniforms for 100th Anniversary

Airlines & Airports

Lufthansa has pulled back the curtain on a brand new look for its staff, unveiling redesigned uniforms for cockpit, cabin, and ground crews at a fashion show held at the airline's "Hangar One" visitor and conference center. The reveal comes as Lufthansa marks its 100th anniversary — and after more than two decades with the same uniform.

The new outfits were created in partnership with BOSS, the renowned German fashion house, in what Lufthansa describes as the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the two brands. Around 40 new and reimagined pieces make up the collection, all staying true to Lufthansa's signature color palette of dark navy blue and iconic yellow.

One standout piece is a cape designed for cabin and ground crew — a nod to the airline's heritage while signalling a forward-looking aesthetic. The collection was developed with significant input from employees across all uniformed departments, who tested every style for comfort, functionality, and sustainability before the final designs were locked in.

Practicality was clearly a priority. Employees will be able to mix and match new pieces with existing uniform items, reducing waste and giving staff some flexibility in how they put their look together — a thoughtful touch in an era of growing awareness around resource efficiency.

Lufthansa CEO Jens Ritter described the uniform as more than just clothing, calling it an expression of the airline's identity and a promise to its passengers. BOSS SVP James Foster echoed that sentiment, framing the collaboration as a meeting of tailoring expertise and aviation know-how.

The rollout will happen in phases, kicking off in the fourth quarter of 2026.
