Lufthansa’s 100th Anniversary 787 to Arrive in December

Lufthansa’s Boeing 787-9 featuring a special livery celebrating the airline’s 100th anniversary in 2026 is set to arrive in Frankfurt shortly before Christmas. The aircraft, registered D-ABPU and named Berlin, will enter regular passenger service in January 2026.

The special livery was completed at Boeing’s facility in Charleston, South Carolina, before the aircraft was transferred to Everett, Washington. The design blends Lufthansa’s heritage with its modern identity: a deep blue fuselage paired with a bold white crane whose wings extend seamlessly into the aircraft’s own wings, symbolizing a bridge between tradition and the future.

Once in service, the aircraft will act as a flying ambassador for Lufthansa’s centenary, marking a historic milestone for one of Europe’s oldest carriers.
