Jet2 has issued a reminder to passengers travelling with power banks, e-cigarettes and other devices containing lithium batteries, as late-summer holiday travel continues across the UK.
The airline is advising travellers to check how these items are packed before arriving at the airport, with power banks and e-cigarettes required to be carried in hand luggage rather than checked baggage.
Jet2 also advises passengers to keep power banks and e-cigarettes under the seat in front of them instead of storing them in overhead lockers.
Jet2’s Rules for Lithium Battery Devices
Passengers travelling with permitted products containing lithium batteries should make sure the devices are switched off and securely packed, with exposed terminals protected to prevent short circuits.
The items must be carried in hand luggage and should not be placed in checked bags.
Damaged personal electronic devices or damaged lithium batteries are not permitted on board Jet2 flights.
The airline also prohibits small lithium battery-powered vehicles, including hoverboards and balance wheels, from both checked and hand baggage.
Passengers Advised to Check Their Bags Before Travel
The guidance forms part of Jet2’s wider safety measures and is intended to give passengers clearer information about restricted items before they arrive at the airport.
“Lots of customers travel with everyday items such as power banks and e-cigarettes, so this is a simple but important reminder to check where they are packed before setting off for the airport,” said David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Jet2.
“These items are common, but they do need to be carried correctly, and doing so helps us keep everyone safe while they travel to enjoy their well-deserved holidays.”
Passengers travelling with batteries or other potentially restricted items are advised to check the airline’s latest baggage requirements before departure.
