Jet2 Pledges No Fuel Surcharges on Booked Flights

Airlines & Airports

Jet2 has made a firm public commitment that customers will never be hit with unexpected surcharges after booking a flight or holiday — regardless of how much the airline's own costs rise in the meantime.

The announcement comes amid growing speculation that some airlines and travel companies may start passing on cost increases — particularly soaring jet fuel prices — to customers after they have already made a booking. Jet2 has moved to distance itself from that trend, formally removing the surcharge provision across all its flights and holidays, even though it had never actually applied such charges before.

The guarantee covers bookings made through any channel — online, via the mobile app, through the contact centre, or with an independent travel agent. The one exception is tourist taxes, which are collected locally at the resort and paid directly to accommodation providers, so these fall outside Jet2's control.

The timing is deliberate. With millions of UK holidaymakers heading into their summer travel season, Jet2 is leaning into its "Customer First" reputation and reinforcing why it has held Which? Recommended Provider status for eleven consecutive years — across seven categories, no less.

Beyond the surcharge pledge, the company also offers flexible payment options on Jet2holidays bookings, including a £60 per person deposit and a PayPal Pay in 3 instalment plan, making it easier for customers to secure their trip without a large upfront commitment.

CEO Steve Heapy put it plainly: holidaymakers deserve to book their break without worrying about surprise costs showing up later, and Jet2 intends to make sure that's exactly what they get.
