IHG signs Crowne Plaza New Cairo for planned 2031 opening

IHG signs Crowne Plaza New Cairo for planned 2031 opening

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement for a 250-room Crowne Plaza hotel in New Cairo’s Sixth Settlement, with opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2031.

The agreement is with Kleek Development, a joint venture between Emaar Al Delta for Contracting and Real Estate Investment and Modern Style Home Real Estate Company. Announced on October 12, the project will expand IHG’s premium hotel portfolio in the Egyptian capital.

New hotel targets East Cairo’s growing business district

Crowne Plaza New Cairo will sit within a developing mixed-use area, serving East Cairo’s business, commercial and residential communities.

IHG said infrastructure investment, population growth and demand from domestic and international companies are creating opportunities for internationally branded hotels in the district.

“New Cairo is evolving rapidly, with continued investment in businesses, communities and infrastructure strengthening its position as an increasingly important commercial destination,” said Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“That growth is creating new reasons to travel to this part of the city and, in turn, greater demand for high quality, internationally branded hotels that can serve both business and leisure guests.”

Four dining venues and six event spaces planned

The hotel will offer a mix of rooms and suites, alongside four dining venues. These will include an all-day restaurant, a lobby lounge and a bar.

Six meetings and events spaces, including meeting rooms and a dedicated ballroom, are planned for corporate gatherings and social occasions.

Leisure facilities will include a swimming pool, fitness centre and spa, with retail spaces also forming part of the development.

The property will incorporate Crowne Plaza’s approach to combining work and leisure within a single stay. Its Plaza Workspace concept provides lobby areas for both professional and personal use, while the brand’s WorkLife Room layout separates spaces for working, relaxing and sleeping.

Kleek Development backs demand in New Cairo

Hussein Dawoud, CEO of Kleek Development, said the project reflected the developer’s confidence in the district’s continued growth.

“New Cairo continues to attract strong interest from residents, businesses, and visitors, and we see a clear opportunity to create a high-quality destination that responds to that momentum,” he said.

“With IHG’s global expertise and the strength of the Crowne Plaza brand, we look forward to delivering a hotel that will become a valued part of this growing community.”

IHG continues expansion in Egypt

IHG currently operates 10 hotels in Egypt and has a further 28 in its development pipeline, according to the company.

The Crowne Plaza New Cairo signing adds to that expansion, with the planned hotel intended to serve both business visitors and leisure guests as East Cairo develops.
