Iberia Appoints Joana de Epalza as New CFO from June 2026
Iberia has appointed Joana de Epalza as its new Chief Financial Officer, with the leadership change taking effect in June 2026.
De Epalza joins Iberia from Vueling, where she has served as Chief Financial and Transformation Officer since 2023. In that role, she played a key part in improving the airline’s financial performance and leading transformation initiatives. Her appointment at Iberia comes amid a broader senior leadership reshuffle within International Airlines Group, the airline group that owns both Iberia and British Airways.
The change follows the move of Iberia’s Chief Financial and Technology Officer, Gabriel Perdiguero, to become Chief Financial and Transformation Officer at British Airways. Perdiguero has worked at Iberia for more than a decade in senior finance and transformation roles.
Iberia says the appointments reflect IAG’s commitment to internal talent development and mobility, with leaders across its airline brands taking on expanded responsibilities.
Joana de Epalza has over 20 years of experience working in finance and management across multinational companies. She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Bordeaux Montesquieu and has led financial restructuring, business integration and complex project oversight in previous roles at organisations such as Alpine, Algeco and Elliot Group.
The leadership transitions at Iberia and British Airways align with planned changes at IAG’s group level, where a broader executive succession process is underway as current senior officers prepare for new roles within the expanding airline group.
