Southwest Airlines Launches Flights to Anchorage, Alaska
Southwest Airlines has added Alaska to its domestic network, launching twice-daily nonstop flights to Anchorage from both Denver and Las Vegas on May 15.
The carrier, which flies more customers nonstop within the United States than any other airline, now serves 43 states across its route map. Anchorage marks the latest expansion in a series of new destinations the airline has introduced in recent months.
"Southwest continues to give customers more opportunities to connect with the travel experiences that matter most to them," said Ted Gordon, Vice President of Airport Affairs. "Anchorage stands out as a great destination for its culture, unforgettable scenery, and hospitality."
Passengers on the inaugural flights were greeted with commemorative boarding passes, Alaska-themed merchandise, and a gate welcome that included Seymour the Moose, a local mascot representing the destination.
Travelers to Anchorage can earn and redeem points through Southwest's Rapid Rewards loyalty program, with additional perks including free in-flight WiFi via T-Mobile.
