ANA to Launch ANA Nippon Cargo in 2027 as Three Cargo Businesses Merge

ANA Holdings has announced that its new consolidated cargo airline will operate under the ANA Nippon Cargo brand from April 1, 2027, bringing together three of the group’s air freight businesses.

The new airline will be created through the integration of ANA Cargo Inc., Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. and NCA Japan Co., Ltd., as ANA Group moves to consolidate its cargo operations under a single organisation and brand.

The company will eventually be renamed ANA Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd., although the legal name change is not expected to take place immediately when the new operation launches.

ANA Nippon Cargo brand to launch in April 2027

ANA Nippon Cargo is scheduled to become the operating brand on April 1, 2027.

At launch, however, the company will retain the existing legal name Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. ANA Holdings expects the corporate name to change to ANA Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. during the second half of fiscal year 2027 or later, subject to approval from the relevant government authorities.

ANA said the new identity is intended to bring the three cargo businesses together while retaining the recognition associated with Nippon Cargo Airlines.

The inclusion of “Cargo Airlines” in the future corporate name also reflects the fact that the company will operate as a dedicated cargo airline with its own aircraft fleet and direct responsibility for operational safety and service quality.

Three ANA Group cargo businesses under one operation

The restructuring will combine the capabilities of ANA Cargo, Nippon Cargo Airlines and NCA Japan.

According to ANA Holdings, integrating the three businesses is intended to provide a more reliable and responsive air freight operation for customers worldwide while creating a unified identity for the group’s cargo activities.

The move follows ANA Group’s previously announced plans to reorganise its cargo business and strengthen its position in the global air freight market.

Nippon Cargo Airlines brings dedicated freighter operations to the combined business, while ANA Cargo provides access to the cargo capacity and network associated with ANA Group’s broader airline operations.

The consolidation will therefore bring different parts of the group’s air freight business together under a single organisation.

ANA Holdings said further details about the ANA Nippon Cargo brand will be released closer to its April 2027 launch.
