airBaltic launches five new routes to Kuusamo for winter 2026–2027

airBaltic launches five new routes to Kuusamo for winter 2026–2027

airBaltic will introduce five new direct routes to Kuusamo for the 2026–2027 winter season, strengthening the Finnish destination’s connectivity with key European markets.

From December 2026 to March 2027, Kuusamo Airport will offer direct flights to London, Manchester, Berlin, Hamburg and Riga. The airline will also station one aircraft at Kuusamo during peak winter months, enabling more efficient operations and additional weekend services.

The move marks a significant step in the development of Kuusamo as a winter tourism hub. With an aircraft based locally, airBaltic will be able to operate multiple direct connections and improve flexibility across its network.

The new routes expand airBaltic’s presence in northern Finland, complementing its existing services to Kittilä and strengthening access from major markets such as Germany and the United Kingdom.

Kuusamo continues to grow in popularity as a winter destination, attracting visitors with its ski resorts, national parks and northern experiences. The Ruka–Kuusamo area offers a wide range of activities, including skiing, hiking, northern lights viewing and traditional Finnish sauna experiences.

The new connections are expected to bring nearly 12,000 additional international visitors to the region during the winter season, supporting local tourism and further positioning Kuusamo on the European travel map.

Through Riga, travellers will also benefit from onward connections to a wider network of European destinations, making access to northern Finland more seamless.

The expanded winter schedule highlights continued collaboration between airBaltic, Finnish aviation authorities and tourism organisations to develop international travel to the region.
