Air Algérie has launched a new nonstop service between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Algiers, restoring a direct air connection between the two capitals for the first time in 12 years.
Algeria’s national carrier will operate the route once a week using Boeing 737 aircraft configured to carry up to 186 passengers.
The service strengthens connections between Germany’s capital region and Algeria, targeting a mix of passengers travelling for leisure, business and visits to friends and relatives.
The route also provides Berlin passengers with direct access to Air Algérie’s hub at Houari Boumediene Airport and its wider domestic and international network.
Berlin-Algiers flights operate every Monday during summer
Under the current summer schedule, Air Algérie operates the route on Mondays.
Flights depart Berlin Brandenburg Airport at 7:00 PM, arriving in Algiers at 9:05 PM local time.
The return service leaves Algiers at 2:00 PM and arrives at BER at 6:00 PM.
The flight takes approximately three hours.
During the European summer timetable, Algeria is one hour behind Germany because the country does not observe daylight saving time.
Schedule changes from November
Air Algérie will move the service from Monday to Sunday with the start of its winter schedule.
From November 1, flights will depart BER at 1:55 PM and arrive in Algiers at 4:35 PM.
In the opposite direction, the flight will leave Algiers at 10:15 AM and arrive in Berlin at 12:55 PM.
Germany and Algeria will be in the same time zone during the winter period.
Direct Berlin-Algiers connection returns after 12 years
The launch marks the first scheduled nonstop connection between Algiers and the Berlin capital region since 2014.
Air Algérie operates from its main hub at Houari Boumediene Airport and serves more than 80 domestic and international destinations.
Its fleet includes Airbus, Boeing and ATR aircraft, with its network spanning Algeria as well as destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and other international markets.
The airline is also a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) and African Airlines Association (AFRAA).
The new Berlin service adds another North African destination to BER’s international network while restoring a direct link between the German and Algerian capitals.
