Turkish Airlines will become Liverpool FC’s Main Club Partner from June 2027, in a major sponsorship agreement that will put the airline’s name on the front of the Premier League club’s shirts from the 2027/28 season.
The agreement will bring an end to Liverpool’s 17-year main sponsorship relationship with Standard Chartered and represents the first change to the club’s principal shirt partner since 2010.
Standard Chartered will, however, maintain its relationship with Liverpool FC, transitioning to become a Global Partner of the club from 2027.
Turkish Airlines logo to appear on Liverpool shirts
The new partnership will give Turkish Airlines one of the most prominent sponsorship positions in global football, with the carrier’s branding appearing on the front of Liverpool FC shirts beginning with the 2027/28 season.
The partnership brings together one of England’s most internationally recognised football clubs and an airline with one of the world’s largest international networks.
Operating from its Istanbul hub, Turkish Airlines serves more countries than any other airline, giving the carrier a global footprint that closely matches Liverpool’s international supporter base.
“Liverpool Football Club is one of the world’s most recognised and respected football clubs, with an exceptional heritage and a truly global community of supporters,” said Turkish Airlines CEO Ahmet Olmuştur.
“We are very pleased that Turkish Airlines will become the Club’s Main Club Partner and that our name will take its place on one of the most iconic shirts in world sport.”
Olmuştur said the agreement represents another step in Turkish Airlines’ long-standing involvement in international sports sponsorship.
Liverpool ends 17-year Standard Chartered shirt partnership
The agreement also marks a major change in Liverpool FC’s commercial history.
Standard Chartered has appeared on Liverpool shirts since 2010, making it one of the club’s longest-running principal commercial partnerships.
Its departure from the front of the shirt after the 2026/27 season will therefore represent the first change to Liverpool’s Main Club Partner in 17 years.
“This is a milestone announcement for Liverpool FC and we are delighted to welcome Turkish Airlines as our Main Club Partner from June 2027,” said Ben Latty, Liverpool FC’s Chief Commercial Officer.
“The front of the Liverpool shirt holds a special place in the history of our club.”
Latty also acknowledged Standard Chartered’s contribution to Liverpool over the previous 17 years and confirmed that the financial services group will remain within the club’s commercial partner portfolio.
Turkish Airlines expands its presence in global sport
The Liverpool agreement adds another major international sports property to Turkish Airlines’ sponsorship activities.
The carrier has used football and other global sporting events extensively as part of its international marketing strategy, reflecting an airline network that connects destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East through Istanbul.
The partnership also reconnects Turkish Airlines with a city that holds particular significance in Liverpool’s modern football history. Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul in 2005 after one of the competition’s most famous comebacks.
The new agreement officially takes effect in June 2027, ahead of the start of the 2027/28 football season.
From that point, Turkish Airlines will replace Standard Chartered as Liverpool FC’s Main Club Partner and take over the front-of-shirt sponsorship position.
