Hilton to Bring LXR Hotels & Resorts to Costa Rica with Maravé Manuel Antonio

Hilton has announced plans to bring its LXR Hotels & Resorts brand to Costa Rica for the first time with the signing of Maravé Manuel Antonio, a luxury resort and branded residential development on the country’s Pacific coast.

Expected to open in 2029, the project will occupy a nearly 40-acre beachfront estate in Manuel Antonio, extending from a rainforest ridge to approximately 650 feet of Pacific coastline.

Maravé Manuel Antonio will comprise 173 accommodations across the hotel and residential components, including guest rooms, suites, private bungalows, villas, condominiums and penthouses.

The development is located minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park, one of Costa Rica’s best-known natural attractions.

57 Hotel Accommodations and 116 Luxury Residences

The seven-story Maravé Manuel Antonio, LXR Hotels & Resorts will feature 57 accommodations, including 42 ocean-view guest rooms and 15 private bungalows positioned along the property’s natural hillside.

Each bungalow will have a private plunge pool and views towards the Pacific.

The residential component, Maravé Manuel Antonio, LXR Residences, will add 116 fully furnished homes overlooking the ocean. It will become the first LXR Residences development in Latin America.

The residential mix will include 66 private villas, 46 oceanfront condominiums and four penthouses.

“Costa Rica represents a key growth market for Hilton, with strong demand for high-end, nature-immersed travel,” said Pablo Maturana, Vice President, Development, Architecture, Design and Construction, Caribbean and Latin America at Hilton.

“With Maravé Manuel Antonio, LXR Hotels & Resorts, we are introducing a distinctive luxury retreat that will bring LXR’s destination-led approach to life through highly personalized service, immersive cultural connection and one-of-a-kind experiences inspired by the spirit of Manuel Antonio.”

Resort Design Inspired by Costa Rica’s Rainforest

Costa Rican firm Carazo Arquitectura is leading the architectural design, with the resort planned around the site’s existing topography and vegetation.

According to Hilton, the development is expected to incorporate the largest mass timber structure in Costa Rica. Buildings will be positioned to maintain views towards the Pacific while limiting their impact on the surrounding rainforest environment.

Chicago-based studio Curioso is responsible for the interiors, which will use natural stone, wood finishes and large expanses of glass to connect indoor spaces with the surrounding landscape.

“Maravé stood out for its extraordinary location, thoughtful design and authentic connection to Manuel Antonio’s rainforest and Pacific coastline,” said Dino Michael, Global Category Head, Hilton Luxury Brands.

“It brings together everything we look for in an LXR property destination: distinctive character, a sense of place and experiences that invite homeowners to embrace adventure, nature and uncompromising luxury.”

Bruce Begia, President of Ocean Cove MA Development One S.A., said the project is intended to connect visitors with Costa Rica’s natural environment while providing a high-end hospitality experience.

Beach Club, Spa and Chef-Led Restaurants Planned

A beachfront Beach Club will serve as one of Maravé Manuel Antonio’s main social areas, with multiple pools, oceanfront dining, bars, beach and pool cabanas and lounge areas.

The resort’s food and beverage offering will include two chef-led signature restaurants combining Costa Rican and international influences. Menus are expected to make use of locally sourced seafood and ingredients associated with the surrounding rainforest.

A separate MARAVÉ Speakeasy Bar is planned as a more intimate evening venue, with cocktails incorporating native Costa Rican botanicals and priority access for residence owners and resort guests.

Wellness facilities will include a large spa and a fitness centre with spaces for strength, mobility and recovery training overlooking the jungle and ocean.

The development will also include a dedicated youth and activity club, alongside indoor and outdoor programming for families.

Hilton Continues Luxury Expansion in Latin America

The signing comes as Hilton expands its luxury and lifestyle presence across the Caribbean and Latin America.

The hotel group currently operates more than 315 properties across over 35 countries and territories in the region. Its Latin American luxury and lifestyle portfolio includes more than 100 hotels, including independent boutique properties available through Hilton’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Hilton also has more than 150 hotels in its regional development pipeline, including approximately 50 luxury and lifestyle properties.

In Costa Rica, Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique opened in 2025, marking that brand’s debut in the country.

Elsewhere in the region, Hilton plans to open Waldorf Astoria San Miguel de Allende in Mexico in 2027, Waldorf Astoria Turks and Caicos Dellis Cay in 2028 and Conrad Los Cabos in 2028.

Residential Sales Expected to Begin in 2026

Construction of Maravé Manuel Antonio is expected to be completed in late 2028 ahead of the resort’s planned 2029 opening.

Sales of the branded residences are scheduled to begin in fall 2026. Residence owners will receive Hilton Honors Diamond status as well as benefits across Hilton’s global luxury portfolio.

Hotel guests will also be able to earn and redeem points through the Hilton Honors loyalty programme when the property opens.
