Virgin Atlantic Strengthens Manchester Base with New Flights

Virgin Atlantic is strengthening its presence at Manchester Airport, reinforcing its role as a key hub for long-haul travel from the North of England ahead of the summer 2026 season.

 

From 27 March 2026, the airline will introduce daily flights to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), significantly expanding transatlantic connectivity from Manchester. The new service will operate alongside Virgin Atlantic’s existing Manchester–Boston route, which will also see increased frequency during the peak summer period.

The expansion builds on Virgin Atlantic’s long-standing commitment to Manchester, where the airline established its northern base in 2005. Since then, Manchester has become a cornerstone of Virgin Atlantic’s UK network, supporting both leisure and business travel to North America.

The enhanced New York service will offer travellers in the North of England direct access to one of the United States’ most important global gateway cities, while improved Boston connectivity will further strengthen ties between the region and the U.S. East Coast.

Manchester Airport welcomed the announcement, highlighting the importance of strong long-haul links in supporting regional economic growth, international business connections and inbound tourism.

With these additions, Virgin Atlantic continues to invest in Manchester as a strategic base, offering passengers greater choice and flexibility on key long-haul routes during the busy summer travel season.
