Allegiant Offers 50% Points Back to Displaced Spirit Passengers

Airlines & Airports

Allegiant Air has joined the growing list of US carriers stepping up to support passengers left stranded by Spirit Airlines' sudden shutdown, offering a points rebate and temporary fare freeze to help affected travellers rebook.

Through May 12, 2026, Spirit customers can earn 50 percent back in Allways Rewards points on qualifying itineraries booked with Allegiant using the promo code ALLWAYSTHERE. The offer covers travel through July 20 and applies to routes where Allegiant's network overlaps with Spirit's former operations. To access the rebate, passengers need a free Allways Rewards account and must be logged in at the time of booking on Allegiant.com.

Alongside the loyalty offer, Allegiant is implementing a temporary fare freeze on routes that compete directly with Spirit, aimed at preventing prices from spiking during the transition period as displaced passengers scramble to rebook.

The airline acknowledged that its route overlap with Spirit is only partial, but said its priority is to help reaccommodate as many affected passengers as possible. Allegiant's chief commercial officer Drew Wells noted that the carrier had already been expanding in several Spirit markets ahead of the shutdown — including launching service in Atlantic City last year and adding roughly 500,000 seats in competitive markets — meaning some capacity was already in place to absorb demand.

Allegiant's model focuses on connecting smaller and mid-sized communities to leisure destinations via all-nonstop flights, positioning it as a natural alternative for some of the budget-conscious travellers who relied on Spirit's low-cost network.
