
Storm Disruption Continues at Palma de Mallorca Airport for Second Day

Severe storms across the Balearic Islands have caused widespread disruption at Palma de Mallorca Airport, with flight delays continuing for a second consecutive day.

Following a challenging Monday marked by late arrivals and departures, the situation at the airport deteriorated further on Tuesday morning. According to airport operator Aena, more than 50 flights have already been delayed, impacting routes to and from mainland Spain and several European destinations.
Orange Weather Alert in Force
The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an orange alert for Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera, forecasting heavy rainfall of up to 50 litres per square metre in one hour, and up to 120 litres in 12 hours. Thunderstorms, hail, and wind gusts up to 90 km/h are also possible. The island of Menorca remains under a yellow alert, with milder weather expected.
Emergency Measures Activated
The Balearic regional Directorate General of Emergencies and Interior has activated the Meteobal Plan Committee, coordinating with police, fire services, and utility companies. As a precaution, authorities have closed public parks in Palma and campsites in the Serra de Tramuntana.
