American Airlines Adds Four New Nonstop Routes to Europe

American Airlines has launched four new nonstop routes to Europe, adding Budapest and Prague from Philadelphia (PHL) and Athens and Zurich from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), coinciding with the start of what the carrier describes as its record-breaking centennial summer schedule.

The Philadelphia routes introduce Budapest and Prague as brand-new destinations in American's global network. Both are operated seasonally on a daily basis using Boeing 787-8 aircraft. From Dallas-Fort Worth, the new Athens and Zurich services are operated with a mix of Boeing 777-300ER and 777-200ER aircraft, joining more than 230 nonstop destinations already accessible from the airline's largest hub.

The launches coincide with newly redesigned schedules at both hubs. Philadelphia has expanded from six to seven coordinated departure banks, improving passenger flow and on-time performance. Dallas-Fort Worth has introduced a 13-bank schedule across its more than 930 peak daily departures, reducing delays, gate changes, and improving baggage handling and connection reliability in the two months since implementation.

American's European network now reaches up to 70 daily flights from the US this summer. Additional recent expansions include new nonstop service from Miami to Milan and from New York JFK to Edinburgh.

This summer, American plans to carry 75 million customers across 750,000 flights — its largest summer operation to date. Passenger experience improvements include a redesigned mobile app with rebooking and bag-tracking tools, TSA PreCheck Touchless ID now available at 60 airports, and free Wi-Fi for AAdvantage members on nearly all domestic flights.
