SAS named world’s most punctual airline in March
Scandinavian airline SAS has been ranked the world’s most punctual airline for March 2026, according to Cirium’s latest On-Time Performance report.
he carrier achieved an on-time arrival rate of 89.75 percent, placing it ahead of Aeromexico and Iberia, which ranked second and third respectively. The result highlights SAS’ continued operational reliability during a period marked by global aviation challenges.
The recognition comes as SAS celebrates its 80th anniversary, underscoring the airline’s long-standing focus on precision and dependability. The strong performance also builds on a successful 2025, when SAS ranked second in Europe and third globally for punctuality across the full year.
CEO Anko van der Werff said the achievement reflects both customer trust and the commitment of employees, particularly given the complex operating environment.
March is typically a demanding month for airlines in Scandinavia due to shifting weather conditions, including late-season snow and strong winds. In addition, geopolitical developments in the Middle East added further operational pressures across the global aviation network.
Despite these challenges, SAS maintained stable performance, supported by improvements introduced in recent years. The airline has focused on tighter turnaround procedures, enhanced planning processes and stronger coordination across teams.
These measures have contributed to more predictable operations and a sustained emphasis on punctuality, as SAS continues to invest in service quality and operational efficiency.
