Qantas Freight launches Singapore freighter route

Airlines & Airports

Qantas Freight has launched new dedicated freighter services to Singapore, expanding its cargo network across the Asia Pacific region. The new route, which began on April 3, operates twice weekly between Sydney, Shanghai and Singapore, before returning to Sydney.

The service is operated using an Airbus A330 freighter, offering more than 50 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight. Flights are scheduled on Fridays and Sundays, providing additional flexibility for freight forwarders and shippers moving goods across key regional markets.

This marks the first time Qantas has introduced a dedicated freighter service into Singapore, complementing its existing cargo capacity carried on passenger flights. The new routing is expected to support growing demand for time-sensitive shipments, particularly in sectors such as e-commerce and high-tech goods.

The addition of Singapore as a stop further enhances Qantas’ existing Sydney–Shanghai operations while strengthening connectivity across its Asia Pacific cargo network.

Changi Airport Group welcomed the new service, highlighting Singapore’s role as a major global cargo hub. Lim Ching Kiat, Executive Vice President for Air Hub and Cargo Development, said the move reflects rising demand for air cargo across the region and reinforces Changi Airport’s position as a key node connecting Australia, China, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Qantas Freight also emphasized the strategic importance of Singapore within its network. Executive Manager Igor Kwiatkowski said the new stop would improve routing options and provide greater flexibility for customers transporting goods across the region.
