Norwegian Cruise Line welcomes the “Getaway”

Getaway is not what most would expect, a destination, but rather a luxurious mean of transportation. Specifically, a 145.655 ton cruise ship. Its launch has been inaugurated in a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany, just 9 months after the arrival of sister-ship, the Norwegian Breakaway.
“Norwegian Breakaway revolutionized cruising with its Waterfront and strong connection to New York. Norwegian Getaway will do the same as Miami’s ultimate ship, offering the only way to cruise the Caribbean from Miami with a plethora of incredible features.” - Norwegian CEO, Kevin Sheehan.
The inaugural festivities will continue in Southampton, England followed by a trans-Atlantic cruise to New York. The christening will take place on the 7th of February in Miami.
One of the artistic features on the Norwegian Getaway is the hull whimsical mermaid holding the sun above the waves, designed by David “LEBO” Le Batard.
Another amazing and interactive feature is the illusionarium which will enchant the traveler’s dining experience with magic and mystery.
Like the Breakaway before it, the Getaway features 678 Ocean Place and The Waterfront, interconnected both indoor and outdoor venues, where you can also find none less than three seafood restaurants. In these restaurants you will enjoy the services of celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian who also featured on the Food Network, as well as a bakery by Buddy Valastro, star if the series “Cake Boss” on TLC.
Enjoy a Nickelodeon experience, a three-story Sports Complex which comes with its own water park, studio staterooms for solo travelers as well as luxury suites in The Haven section.
