Wizz Air to Roll Out Starlink Wi-Fi Across Its Fleet in 2027
Wizz Air has announced plans to equip its fleet with Starlink satellite internet, with installations beginning in 2027, making it the first European ultra-low-cost carrier to offer the technology to passengers.
The partnership with SpaceX's Starlink aims to bring high-speed, low-latency in-flight connectivity to the budget travel segment, where reliable onboard internet has traditionally been absent or limited to premium carriers. Every new generation Wizz Air aircraft is expected to be Starlink-equipped, ensuring consistent coverage regardless of route or destination.
"Our customers shouldn't have to choose between affordable fares and reliable internet onboard to stay connected to the people, work, and moments that matter most," said Ian Malin, Chief Commercial Officer of Wizz Air. "We're proud to lead that change by collaborating with Starlink to bring maximum benefit to Wizz Air."
Jason Fritch, Vice President of Starlink Enterprise Sales at SpaceX, called the partnership a natural fit for the technology. "Keeping passengers and crew seamlessly connected at 30,000 feet is exactly what this technology was built to do," he said.
The announcement positions Wizz Air alongside a small group of carriers globally that have committed to Starlink-powered connectivity, including Alaska Airlines, which recently became the first airline to equip its entire regional fleet with the service.
