National Rail Strike to Hit Italy September 4–5

A national rail strike has been called in Italy, affecting FS Group, Trenitalia, Trenitalia Tper, and Trenord services from 9:00 PM on Thursday, September 4, to 6:00 PM on Friday, September 5. Travelers should prepare for widespread cancellations and service disruptions on both regional and long-distance routes.

 

For Trenitalia and Trenitalia Tper regional trains, minimum essential services will operate during peak commuter hours on Friday, from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, as required by law on weekdays.

Long-distance services (Frecce and Intercity) will have select trains guaranteed, but delays and last-minute cancellations may still occur. Passengers are also advised that disruptions could begin before the official start of the strike and may extend beyond its conclusion.
