Delta Air Lines will launch nonstop flights from Detroit to Athens and Boston to Venice in summer 2027, alongside its previously announced Austin–Paris service.
The airline is also extending several seasonal European routes, with earlier spring starts and additional service outside the summer peak. Boston–Milan will increase to daily flights in 2027.
Boston–Venice Launches in May
Delta will begin four weekly flights between Boston and Venice on 7 May 2027, with the seasonal service running through 29 October.
The route will use an Airbus A330-300 offering Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.
Boston will become Delta’s third U.S. gateway to Venice. The airline says passengers will have connections to nearly 20 U.S. destinations through its Boston network.
Together with the increase to daily Boston–Milan flights, the addition will bring Delta’s Italy schedule to as many as 17 departures on peak days from the United States, with more than 30,000 nonstop seats a week.
Detroit Gains Its First Nonstop Athens Service
Flights between Detroit and Athens will launch on 8 June 2027, operating three times weekly through 28 October.
The service will be Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s first nonstop connection to the Greek capital and will make Detroit Delta’s fourth U.S. gateway to Athens.
An Airbus A330-200 will operate the route, with the same four cabin options available on the Boston–Venice service. Connections through Detroit will be available to more than 40 U.S. destinations.
Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton said the route would create new opportunities for tourism, business and cultural links between Southeast Michigan and Greece.
Austin–Paris Starts in March
The new routes join Delta’s previously announced daily seasonal service from Austin to Paris Charles de Gaulle, scheduled to begin on 27 March 2027.
It will be Austin’s first nonstop link to Paris. Delta plans to operate the route with an Airbus A330-900neo, offering Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.
Through its partnership with Air France-KLM, the airline says passengers will have one-stop access from Austin to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India and Africa.
Earlier Starts for Rome and Other European Routes
Delta’s 2027 transatlantic schedule will bring back several seasonal services earlier in the year.
Flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome will begin in early March, followed by Seattle–Rome in April. Detroit–Rome will operate daily from the start of its season.
Other routes returning earlier include:
- New York-JFK to Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen
- Boston to Barcelona
- Seattle to Barcelona
- Atlanta to Edinburgh
New York-JFK–Copenhagen will also resume with daily flights, while Cincinnati–Paris will operate three times weekly from January through March.
Jeff Arinder, Delta’s Vice President of International Network Planning, said the changes respond to demand for more choice in destinations and travel dates, including trips during spring and autumn.
