MSC unveils new luxury private island Sandy Cay

Cruise Lines & Cruise Ships

MSC Group’s Cruise Division has announced plans for a new private island destination in the Bahamas, as it continues to expand its luxury cruise offerings.

The new island, named Sandy Cay, is set to open in 2028 and will be located بالقرب of Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. It is designed to offer a more exclusive and tranquil experience for guests of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.

Positioned as a complement to Ocean Cay, Sandy Cay will focus on a more intimate connection with nature, featuring pristine white sands and a setting aimed at relaxation and immersion in the surrounding environment.

The company said the development reflects growing demand for private island experiences that combine luxury with sustainability and natural beauty.

Alongside the new island, MSC also plans upgrades to its existing Ocean Cay Marine Reserve. These enhancements will include additional dining options, new beach areas for families and adults, expanded relaxation spaces and more opportunities for guests to engage with marine conservation initiatives.

MSC said the combined offering of Ocean Cay and Sandy Cay will create a more diverse destination experience, linking onboard luxury with curated experiences onshore.

The expansion is part of the group’s broader strategy to deliver high-end travel experiences while maintaining a strong focus on environmental stewardship in the Bahamas.
