Alaska Airlines Opens New 14,000 sq ft Lounge in Portland

Alaska Airlines is opening a new lounge at Portland International Airport (PDX) on June 4, more than doubling the size of its previous space with a 14,000-square-foot facility featuring over 200 seats and a Pacific Northwest-inspired design.

The nearly $18 million investment delivers a lounge with high open ceilings, natural light, and views of Portland's new terminal. Design highlights include an inviting fireplace and a wooden Mt. Hood mural by artist Ben Butler. Guests will find Alaska's Signature Loungers, privacy booths for calls and meetings, ample power outlets, barista-crafted beverages, cocktails from West Coast partners, and freshly prepared regionally inspired food.

"This new Lounge is our way of thanking them and a reflection of our growing portfolio of premium guest experiences," said Shane Jones, Vice President of Fleet, Products and Guest Experience at Alaska Airlines.

Alaska is the largest carrier at Portland, operating more than 100 daily departures to over 60 destinations. The airline is on track to offer 50 percent more seats at PDX by this fall compared to two years ago, supported by new routes launched last month to Baltimore, Bellingham, Idaho Falls, Philadelphia, and St. Louis, and upcoming seasonal and year-round services to Everett/Paine Field, Pasco–Tri-Cities, and Jackson Hole.

The Portland opening is part of a broader lounge expansion strategy. Alaska has announced a flagship lounge of over 41,000 square feet at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport set to open in 2027, along with new locations in San Diego and Honolulu planned for early 2028.
